The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality offers a consumer guide for preventing and treating blood clots, available here. . Excellent info! I am 39, and I have had 2 DVT s in the last 10 years. Hello there, . one of the things which still prevent me from using Connector as my full time collaboration suite is that its performances are really poor... I wonder whether that's true for all users or is made somehow worse by network latency (I'm in Italy) or my computer setup (I'm on firefox v2.0.0.8 on XP). . Example: whenever I delete a message it takes Connector almost 7 seconds to complete the operation (after my confirmation).
Pain - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cultural values, hypnotic suggestion, and cognitive activities such as distraction or appraisal can all significantly modulate pain 's intensity and unpleasantness. The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as "an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage".
In the medical world, adhesions are foremost known to be an iatrogenic disorder-meaning caused by the physician or by medical treatment (or both)-yet prior to surgery, the surgeon rarely informs his patient of the risk of developing adhesions. For the fortunate person who is not scheduled for surgery, the risk of adhesions is still a concern. Adhesions can develop as a result of infection or an inflammatory condition. Endometriosis, PID (pelvic inflammatory disease), appendicitis, peritonitis, trauma to the body (including surgical trauma), and even radiation, are all examples of health conditions or treatments that produce favorable conditions for the development of adhesions. . *Adhesions were first documented in 1872.....yes, 1872, yet most people, when asked, have never heard of

What A Pain ! Which Is Worse ~ Burned, Bitten or Bad Back?

I've been thrown from horses, kicked by cows, scratched by cats, bitten by an ostrich, rubbed raw by the hide of a shark, bitten (really hard) by a catfish, crapped on by millions of bats, pecked by chickens, stung by lots of bees, attacked by a sewer rat, covered with hundreds of roaches, and profoundly frightened by an alligator. I wrenched my back hauling garbage, smashed my finger with a hammer, smashed my toe with a sledgehammer, cut my arm open on a rusty nail, burned my eyelashes off in a blacksmiths furnace, and became dehydrated twice, once in a New Jersey sludge pit. I've also developed several infections, most probably caused from waste material getting into open wounds.Of those, the scariest was probably the furnace incident. The heat melted my contacts to my eyes, which alarmed me considerably.Safety first,Mike next previous Search

Dental Doctor s visits -- What a pain Now being disabled and wheelchair bound brings its own challenges but my latest visit to my dentist and my doctor proved to be a work of transportation and manoeuvring par excellence. Firstly let me explain that for the past year all transferring from wheelchair to toilet or bed has been carried out with the aid of a mobile hoist. As a result of my last fall I haven t walked for a year. Now, the doctor s visit was the easiest as we arranged for him to carry out his investigation i

Dehydration - What a Pain

By Shereen Jegtvig, About.com Guide to Nutrition Drinking enough water is so important any time of the year, and it is especially important during the hot days of summer. We can lose a lot of fluid on hot days or when we are very physically active. Losing fluids without replacing them adequately results in dehydration. Dehydration causes more than thirst. Dehydation also results in pain , fatigue and headaches. Our Headeaches Guide, Terri Robert tells us more about dehydration and how to prevent it. Dehydration - What a Pain Poll: How do you like to drink your water? I drink plain tap water. I drink plain bottled or filtered water. I drink sparkling water. I like to add lemons or limes to my water. -->

There was hardly anybody around the office so I was able to leave early. Thank goodness my son did show up because I would have had a hard time getting home alone. When we got home we had dinner but I wasn't very hungry . I made some tea and flopped on the couch . I was hurting so bad . I was miserable. I tried to cheer myself up with a Kit Kat chocolate bar and more tea. It helped a little. My evening was spent watching t.v., the news and a movie I've seen about ten times .
